Apple will launch 5G in India in December as part of a push for early adoption.

As Indian authorities pressured mobile phone manufacturers to adopt the high-speed network, Apple Inc. AAPL announced on Wednesday that it will begin upgrading its iPhone models in India in December to make them compatible with 5G networks.

The business announced that it would distribute software updates to recent models, including the iPhone 14, 13, 12, and SE, which according to industry sources do not currently support the network.

As soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is through, we are working with our carrier partners in India to offer the finest 5G experience to iPhone users, according to a statement from Apple.

In December, iPhone owners will begin to receive software updates that allow 5G.

Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, introduced 5G services on October 1 amid considerable excitement. Leading telecom provider Reliance Jio announced that it would make the service available in four locations, while rival Bharti Airtel AIRTELPP.E1 announced that it would do so in eight.

Top officials from India's telecoms and IT departments will preside over a meeting on Wednesday for early 5G adoption, and they have invited executives from Apple, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi as well as domestic telecom providers Reliance, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea IDEA to attend.
